Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid, is a second generation clean agent fire extinguishing agent. Novec™ 1230 is a chemical agent used primarily in total flooding systems and is the most environmentally benign of all the chemical agents. Novec™ 1230 is truly a real breakthrough in clean agent technology, a liquid at room temperature, it looks, feels and acts like water, allowing flexibility in recharge procedures. In particular our higher storage pressure at 34.5 bar (500psi) allows the greatest flexibility for the system design
3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is a clear, colorless and low odor fluid. It is stored as a liquid and dispensed into the hazard as an electrically non‐conductive gaseous vapor that is clear and does not obscure vision.
The discharge nozzles are made of brass and are available in a 180° and 360° discharge patterns. The nozzles are designed to control the agent flow and to distribute the agent throughout the protected enclosure in a uniform, predetermined pattern and concentration.
Fike’s clean agent containers are painted steel containers available in various sizes and varying fill densities. Each container is fitted with an internal siphon tube, Fike Impulse Valve assembly, pressure gauge, container nameplate and applicable mounting hardware.
Check Valves are used to prevent agent loss from the open end of a manifold and/or piping system in the event that one or more containers are removed for servicing / maintenance.
After a system has been discharged, the container’s rupture disc valve must be rebuilt before the container can be recharged and placed back into service. The recharge kits contain all of the items required to rebuild the valve.
Mounting Straps / Brackets are used to secure containers to a wall or other suitable mounting surface.
The pressure gauge is mounted to each container to provide visual indication of the container pressure. The pressure gauge can be installed, removed or replaced on a charged container without removing the agent first.
The Liquid Level Indicator (LLi) provides a means of verifying the weight of agent in a container without having to remove the container and weigh it on a calibrated scale.
The low pressure switch (LPS) for systems using Novec 1230 fire protection fluid is an optional item that can be added to Impulse Valve containers for the purpose of continuously monitoring the container pressure for a low‐pressure condition.
Instructional signs are used to provide the necessary information to personnel in the area and to comply with NFPA 2001 requirements. The caution lettering and backgrounds meet the requirements of ANSI Z535. The signs are made from flame retardant, Lexan™ polycarbonate material.
Selector Valves allow a single agent supply to be utilized for protection of multiple hazards, reducing the total amount of agent required.
The Impulse Valve Pneumatic Operator (IVPO) provides the means to pneumatically activate the Fike Impulse Valve clean agent container by providing the force required to extend a piston that will open the rupture disc, allowing the agent to be released from the container
Discharge Pressure Switch (DPS) is used to provide a positive pneumatic confirmation to the control system that the Fike Fire Suppression system has been discharged.
The 1” and 3” Impulse Valves are a rupture disc (metal diaphragm), pressure operated device that allows the agent to be released from the container and into the protected enclosure via the associated piping network and discharge nozzle(s).
The Impulse Valve Operator Supervisor (IVOS) is used to monitor the presence of the Impulse Valve Operator (IVO).
3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid is a next-generation halon alternative offering outstanding performance, large margin of safety, and an excellent environmental profile.
To provide fire protection in the offices, equipment rooms and other confined spaces that form part of onshore and offshore oil and gas installations, halonbased extinguishing systems have, in the past, been a popular choice
